Intuitive, organized, endowed with an impressive listening capacity and equipped with a tremendous strength of character, Martine is an avid learner eager to know and understand the history behind the problem and motivations of the human beings involved. This is essential to understand the genuine issues and in order to be able to propose customized solutions.
She invests herself entirely in the mandates she receives, much to the delight of her clients, including the numerous class action members she has represented over the years.
Having succeeded in achieving both a professional career and a family life, Martine has learned to manage her two passions while reaching a precious balance which allows her to give her best self in each file.
Martine has more than 29 years of experience in civil and commercial litigation.
She began her practice in a law firm in the heart of Montreal; she then opted to pursue her career as in-house senior legal counsel for an important manufacturer in the aviation industry. Finally, Martine chose to return to the private practice in civil and commercial litigation while specializing in class actions.
Martine acted as defense counsel for several insurance companies involved in the ice storm class action. She also acted on plaintiff’s side and represented the interests of patients in the class action regarding the waiting lists for radiotherapy treatment for breast cancer and carried on other class actions in the food business and travel industry.
In 2011, she accepted Michel Savonitto’s invitation to start Savonitto.
While practicing at Savonitto, Martine represented the interests of an important insurance broker involved in one of the largest court case in the Province of Québec.
Martine has also been working with the National Joint Committee which supervises the administration of the 1986-1990 Hepatitis C Settlement Agreement reached with the federal, provincial and territorial governments in the class actions instituted on behalf of the HCV infected persons through tainted blood.
