Carl is passionate about the aspects of legal research and writing. He enjoys searching for a legal argument in support of a client’s claim that will move the case forward and settle the dispute, as per the client’s wish, or proposing an innovative solution to the court, as the case may be.
Humor is an important part of his daily routine, and he approaches each day as a new opportunity to do better. When he’s not at the office, Carl loves reading detective novels and making time for outdoor activities.
Carl began his career as a research lawyer for the Quebec Court of Appeals with the Honourable François Pelletier j.c.a. for two years. He has had the opportunity to work on cases involving complex legal issues with large volumes of evidence. As a result, he has developed a strong ability to synthesize information and has paid particular attention to the quality of writing legal documents.
After four and a half years, in the summer of 2021, he left the Savonitto team to accept a legal position with the Legal and Legislative Affairs Department of the Quebec National Assembly. In this capacity, he was responsible for drafting public bills, processing access requests under the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, and advising the various departments of the National Assembly on all legal issues (calls for tenders, confidentiality, contracts, etc.).
Carl completed a postgraduate microprogram in legislative law at Université Laval. It’s the only French-language program of its kind in Canada, offering professional and practical training in the drafting of laws and regulations. Carl is currently enrolled in a postgraduate microprogram in environmental law and sustainable development at Université Laval, and would eventually like to obtain a specialized graduate diploma (DESS) in the same field.
